The Very Dizzy Dinosaur by Jack Tickle introduces readers to all different types of dinosaurs. First is the Pteranodon who is so excited to welcome it's baby chicks to the world. Next, is the Tyrannosaurus stomping through the forest trying to catch its dinner. Then, there's the Diplodocus who's thudding through an open field. There's the Velociraptor whose lands in a prickly patch of thorns. The Ichthyosaurus whose swimming in the sea. The Stegosaurus is using the restroom, and the Triceratops is running scared through the trees. Last but not least, the Elasmosaurus is splashing about in the sea. Those are all the dinosaurs that are seen in the pop-up book of dizzy dinos.

The Very Dizzy Dinosaur is such a cute book that would make an excellent addition to any PreK- 1st-grade classroom library. Not only is the book colorful, and youthful the pop-up capability brings the dinosaurs to life in a way that I think the students will really enjoy. I think this book would make a really nice addition to a dinosaur unit in class. Although the writing is very playful and humorous,  the book provides dinosaur names and helpful indicators to help students identify each dinosaur. For example, when talking about the Stegosaurus the book says " When the Stegosaurus swings its tail, beware- the spikes are sharp". Indicators such as these can be a great tool for students when learning the names of different dinosaurs and how to identify them. After reading the story, the students could create their own dizzy dinosaur using the indicators they heard in the text such as drawing wings in their Pteranodon or tiny front paws on their Tyrannosaurus. It would be so much fun if after a unit on dinosaurs and reading this book, the students took a field trip to the science museum to see dinosaurs and perhaps even identify some of them using the traits and indicators from different dinosaurs they learned in the story.
